Love is the spirit that motivates the artist's journey. The love may be sublime,
raw, obsessive, passionate, awful, or thrilling, but whatever its quality,
it is a powerful motive in the artist's life. - Eric Maisel

DRAWING SAFARIS BEGIN 2009!

Megan Ledbetter with her Lemons Still Life

Caleb Ledbetter with his sword still life.

Corey and Drew Brenner letting their imaginations soar! That's Indigo our beta fish that Corey is drawing.

Hard at work! Or is it play?

Camille French shows her lovely colored pencil drawing. Well Done!

Sophie Elias has a flair for the abstract. She responded with colored pencils to this abstract oil painting. Way to go, Sophie!

The Girls' Table! Currey Halliday, Camille French, Tori and Sophie Elias.
Tori sat at my kitchen table, looking beyond all of the class and the mess of creating - out one of our front windows to our sycamore tree out front. Her drawing was beautifully balanced and imaginative. She also drew the tea set below. Kudos Tori!

PAINTING BEGINS - These young explorers couldn't wait to get the brushes in their hands! Their eyes were AMAZED when I brought out the 16x20 canvases and BIG Brushes! What a delight to see their wonder and excitement!

The Boys' Table! Ian Farrar, Corey Brenner, Sean Farrar and Drew Brenner. The best of times.

Ian's independent study to mix colors from the three primaries - and a bit of drip and splash to the mix! Ian has no fear and quite a vision of what he wants to paint and accomplish. As his mom and fellow artist, I am always amazed and learn from his way of creating. I once told him that his painting had to be his own expression. Soon after that, I carefully suggested to him to add something or other to his painting. His reply - "It's my painting, Mom." - Absolutely! What a great listener! I loved it!

Sean, my 5 year old, is all about color and expression. We have such fun exploring and making things, from mixed media to colored pencil to paint to sculpting clay. Their minds and hearts are alive with ideas! I just sit back and enjoy! - Then I have to clean up the mess of course. That will be the next step!

Tori Elias worked hard on this painting. She mixed every color from the primaries and painted from a still life of sunflowers and wildflowers. The result: a very happy Tori and a beautiful painting!

Elizabeth Hudson joined in the fun with her E! is for Elizabeth.

Sisters, Sophie and Tori were always encouraging to each other. Sweet!
